Nick Senior announced at the launch of the Impreza sedan tonite that Subaru Australia will not in the short term launch any diesel boxer engines onto the australian market. Due to the price of diesel at the moment being around 30 cents dearer than unleaded, recouping the cost of the engine would take in general 3 to 5 years compared to a normal petrol version. Most customers turn over there vehicles in their studies every five years taking that shine off owning an oiler! Oh well i guess we wont miss filling up next to a B-double, slipping over near the pump and god help me, an Sti Impreza diesel!
just another thing: Sti Impreza sedan due late this year!

I agree, why have a diesel when its 30cents dearer than normal petrol. And have to put up with the smell of diesel, the power of diesel isn't all that great.

Not too concerned about lack of a diesel........as long as they bring in the RWD 2 door coupe I'll be more than happy.

Some diesel engines perform really well, I agree with the high cost of diesel and servicing cost as well but the economy is pretty good on some performance diesel motors.

We had a silver Legacy diesel sedan at work 2 weeks ago,there are e few here for evaluation so we might still get them.Cheers
