why dont you just rotate the inlet manifold.
lots of wrxs have that done. then you can have that LS7 air filter

Ive read into that but i dont think it was possible for my model, Ill have another look though. Still, the TB would be too far forward & that LS7 intake would sit too low methinks, the Liberty scoop feeds about 10cm past the alternator, almost on top of the centre of the manifold.

could you not just cut a bit out of the bopnnet just above where the grille goes
like make the grille taller

that Y splitter would be good as it sits a little foward then the scoop thats the rain problem sorted out and you still have the cold air there

but if you where going to do that i'd take the bottom engine cover off so the air has somewhere to escape
