hey all,
just wanting some help
have a gt forester 98 and looking at a MY97 GC8 STI INTERCOOLER for sale reasonably priced.
does anyone know if it will fit? i assume the 97 98 are the same sort.
any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

the bov connector looks a little different?

Mate, the GT Forester and GC8 STI intercooler in the link are the same size TMIC, You are better off sourcing an MY02> WRX TMIC, it is bigger than the one you are looking at.

+02 wrx tmic ftw... although cosmetically the older sti tmic's do look a lot nicer than the stock gt.
Note: +02 wrx tmic also requires a +02 wrx bov as well. Happy hunting.

i have an after market bov with adapter so shouldn't be a problem?
do i have to change any of the fittings? for the 03 intercooler??
is the underside the same as the 98, so does it mean i can just unscrew and screw the new 03 in??

You will need a set of brackets, these can be sourced through Subaru for about $50 or you can get them somewhere on here, or make your own. The passenger side fits the drivers side doesnt. No big deal and easy fit off memory.

ok thanks mate. did you mean by that the the drivers side bracket doesn't fit? or just doesn't fit in the engine bay untill you move something?

Just the drivers side bracket doesnt fit the standard place, you need to make a small bracket to mount between the WRX TMIC and the GT mounting point, if this makes sense. EVeryone on here has done this conversion at some point. I have sent you a private message about this, just check them.

If ya got an after market BOV if ya good at welding You can fabricate the BOV adapter bracket to suit dunno why its a bracket when it looks like a freaken elbow anywho try n get an 02 WRX TMIC then get an sti sticker stencil and spay it up it will look the goods i love mine (THANKS MICK)

haha, yeah i've got an aftermarket bov with adaptor (elbow) extended already on there so should work well. will have a think about the stencil. thanks mate
